What We Do

Argonaut and CMSD co-founded and launched the Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School in the summer of 2017 through a unique private-public partnership. Argonaut has an active partnershio agreement with the Board of Education of the CMSD which governs its relationship with Davis A&M and outlines the responsibilities and expectations of each party. Davis A&M/CMSD provides all of the traditional school staff, curriculum, facility, etc., while Argonaut brings the specialized components and expertise necessary for the successful operation of a school focused on aerospace and maritime. Argonaut provides support for curriculum development and weaving the themes of aerospace, maritime, and engineering/manufacturing into classes, and provides hands-on opportunities for students to fully immerse themselves in aerospace and maritime through project-based learning, field trips, guest speakers, career exploration, work experiences, and internships. Four (4) of Argonaut’s full-time staff members are embedded in the school on a daily basis.

Argonaut primarily serves students enrolled at Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School; a Title I designated school. The student population at Davis A&M is largely underserved, with 100% of students considered “economically disadvantaged” and all students are eligible for free lunches.  The student population is 25.8% Female and 74.2% Male, and 64.5% African American, 15.7% Caucasian, 16.6% Hispanic, and 0.9% Asian. 25.35% of the students have a disability, and 13.1% of enrolled students have limited English proficiency. There are approximately 240 students enrolled at Davis A&M in the current 2021-22 school year.

In the future, Argonaut will also offer summer break programming for middle school students who will primarily come from other CMSD and Cleveland area schools.

Argonaut is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity with recognized tax-exempt status from the IRS and the State of Ohio.
